Nikon D3

Retiring the D3

Following two years of heavy usage it has come time to retire the Nikon D3; at that time the flagship of the line.

The D700 does a wonderful job as a backup camera and until the latest models are announced next month, it will be my primary camera.

The advantage of the D700 over the D3 is the sensor cleaning mechanism that the D3 did not have.  My D3 is a dust collector, and therefore a time consumer in post processing.

The new D3s has the sensor cleaner unit built in, and if no replacement to the D3x is announced in February, the “s” will become the newest addition to the collection.

Patience, and D700 for now!
